Wall Art - Il Mostro Alla Mostra

from €25.00

Il Mostro Alla Mostra” means “The monster at the exhibition.

As an English and Chinese speaker, learning Italian’s gendered nouns was a real challenge. I learned that nouns ending in “o” are usually masculine, and those with “a” are feminine—though don’t even get me started on the ones that end in “e”… I just guess!

One day, I saw a new word “mostra” (exhibition) on a billboard and, mixing it up with “il mostro” (the monster), thought it was a female monster because it ended in “a.” How wrong I was!

After figuring it out, I created this drawing to remind myself how amusing (and occasionally confusing) learning a language can be.
